Appointment data and Meta

Current status: server-side Meta appointment measurement is enabled for production. Production is configured to send appointment events to Meta without a test-event code. We have not yet verified receipt of a live Calendly booking event in Meta Events Manager. When a new appointment is booked, the integration can send the event described below.

What we send

When a new Calendly appointment is booked, the server-side integration sends Meta a “Schedule” event. It includes the booking time, a pseudonymous event identifier derived from the SHA-256 hash of the Calendly invitee URI, and SHA-256 hashes of the normalized email address and, if provided, phone number. It does not send your name, mortgage enquiry answers, income, property details or appointment notes. Hashing does not make this information anonymous.

We use this information to measure whether our Meta advertising results in appointments. It is not used to send you marketing messages. We do not include your name, mortgage enquiry answers, income, borrowing amount, advice notes or mortgage case details in this event.

Hashing and matching

Hashing is a security measure. It does not make contact information anonymous. Meta may use the hashed details to match the appointment event to its services and report advertising results. Meta’s own privacy information is available at Meta’s Privacy Policy.

Lawful basis, safeguards and your rights

Our UK GDPR lawful basis for measuring advertising effectiveness is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). Vicky has approved this purpose and the event fields described above. The event is not used to send marketing messages or make decisions about your mortgage circumstances. Meta’s Business Tools Terms restrict data that includes or is based directly or indirectly on financial information. This event does not include mortgage application or financial details; however, the fact of booking an appointment with a mortgage-advice firm may indicate an interest in financial services. Smart Mortgages is checking that Meta permits this event under its current terms; if it is not permitted, we will pause or redesign the measurement. Under Meta’s current Business Tools Terms, UK data is handled by Meta Platforms, Inc., 1 Meta Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA; those terms incorporate the UK Data Transfer Addendum. Meta’s terms say it may retain Event Data for up to two years; this is separate from our 12-month retention for internal appointment records. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting Vicky@smart-mortgages.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
